New Installation
Description of project:
Argosy Landing, located
in the historic district of Baton Rouge, features a new 50,000-square-foot glass
atrium, which is designed to host a variety of events, from concerts and boxing
matches to weddings and shopping. As a result, the installation needed to be
functional, as well as, aesthetically pleasing to guests. Two weeks before the
grand opening, Heroman received the approval to begin installation, which
required crews to work in 24-hour shifts for two weeks under strict safety regulations.
All materials were brought in via 12 semi trucks along narrow, winding
cobblestone streets to a storage area nearly a half a mile from the atrium. All
of the soil, plant material and equipment had to be hauled by hand through a
door with an eight-foot height. Among 13,500 plants, the installation 30 black
olive trees, ranging from 16' to 26', four 22' to 24' Fishtail palms, numerous
Rhapis palms, hybrid Aglaonema, six 15' to 16' Foxtail, Six 6' to 12' Ficus
'Ali', 350 square yards of Zoysia Grass and 12,000 4" containers of Monkey
Grass. The Elite Aglaonmemas installed were procured from Sunshine Foliage
World.
Argosy Landing features
planters and containers with about 13,500 foliage and blooming plants. The client
and architects specified all the necessary pieces to achieve a "garden
setting". Plants like 26'-high black olives had to be raised into the
multi-level planters located between fountains and seating areas, with many
having as many as five-to-ten foot drops.
