2004 Best Project Award Interiorscape Magazine Lost Worlds Sandscape, Mall of Louisiana Baton Rouge, LA
The center court at the Mall of Louisiana is a magnificent arena. For the Lost Worlds Sandscape installation, two separate sand castles were created to introduce Louisianians to the world of the Inca ruins. A cedar lined arbor set between the two continents was dressed with draping ivy, hanging pots of bromeliads and orchids, and mounds of ferns and palms.
In all, more than 250, 6-inch pots of bromeliads and orchids were used along with more than 300 assorted foliage plants. Chinese fan palms and ivy create a haven for a sleeping sand leopard.
