2002 Best Project Award Interiorscape Magazine Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport
This installation required stepping up to the challenge of dealing with a government agency, which presented constant delays, negotiations and security checks as a result of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. The installation included 130 containerized plantings throughout the airport and the main rotunda with it’s 50-foot, two story bay windows and cascading, multi-layered fountain.
Surrounding the fountain are three 42-inch Ficus Nitida, three 28-inch Green Island Ficus surrounded by Xanadu and Walking Iris. The seating area adjacent to the fountain is filled with 18-inch Alexander Palms, Rhapis and Ficus Lyrata. A total of nearly 1,000 plantings in black KI containers along with elegant marble planters provide a contemporary look to the airport’s hub.
