Mall of Louisiana
Description of Project: Mall of Louisiana proved to be one of Heroman Services most challenging projects. With 12 California Date Palms towering to 35'+ expected to go into free standing containers, even we had our doubts. We called in engineers and other specialists to make sure these palms would stand. The conclusion was drawn, if we use a light weight aggregate instead of soil, it will increase the weight of the container. Thus, providing enough to counter balance these large palms. Now they are considered the largest free-standing palms in the country. Other challenges were the Ficus trees in the food court. The food court is on the second level of the Mall. The entrances on the second level were to small for us to get the trees into the building. So to accomplish this task we had to bring the trees in on the first level and lift them some 20'+ over the second level railing into the food court. Other plants included in this installation were 6 Rhapis excelsa 10-12 ft in height, 12 Ficus nuda's 12-14 ft in height, 6 Black Olive 25' in height. Dish gardens filled with Rhapis, Fern, Anthuriums, Algerian Ivy, Dieffenbachia, Variegated Ginger, and a wide variety of Bromeliads were scattered throughout the mall.
